About Our NGO

Movement Built Hope and Humanity

Mariam-Atswandeh Cancer Support Foundation (MACS Foundation) is a survivor-led nonprofit organisation committed to improving cancer awareness, education, early detection, early presentation, patient support and survivor empowerment.

Founded from the lived experience of breast cancer, MACS Foundation works to take cancer conversations beyond the hospital and into communities, schools, markets, families and other spaces where people live, learn and connect.

Through community outreach, cancer education, survivor engagement, patient support, advocacy and collaboration, we work to help people understand cancer, recognise concerning changes, seek appropriate care and support those navigating the cancer journey.

We believe that cancer awareness should lead to action, and that no one should have to navigate the journey without compassion, information and support.

Our Approach

From Understanding to Meaningful Action

From Awareness to Action: Building Resilient Communities Against Cancer. This captures the direction of the Foundation and can be used on the homepage or About section.

To improve cancer awareness, education and access to support by empowering individuals and communities with knowledge, encouraging early action, supporting people affected by cancer and strengthening collaboration around cancer control.

A society where people are informed about cancer, empowered to take timely action, and where individuals and families affected by cancer can access compassionate support and live with dignity.

Compassion

We recognise the human being behind every cancer diagnosis and approach our work with empathy, dignity and care.
